Family Health Team

The program aims to increase accessibility to mental health care for primary care patients. Over 60 Barrie and area family physicians have access to a team of mental health counsellors and consulting psychiatrists.

Our Mental Health Counselors are qualified professionals who will work with you in a short-term, focused, and confidential manner to find solutions. Most people work with their counselor for approximately 6-8 sessions. We work collaboratively with your physician to provide care and meet your needs. Family Health Team patients of all ages are referred to the service by their Family Physician or Nurse Practitioner.

Services include:

-Individual, family, and/or marital counseling
-Psychiatric consultation
-Groups
-Linkages to community resources
 

Services Offered:

• Brief, time-limited therapy to individual, families and couples
• Psycho educational groups
• Psychiatric consultation

Hours: 9-5 Monday to Friday

Who is eligible: Individuals, families or couples who are patients of a Barrie and Community Family Health Team physician.
