Youth Services

 

Early Psychosis Intervention Program (EPI):

  • A multidisciplinary team that provides intensive service to youth and young adults who are experiencing first episode psychosis
  • Services include individual and group treatment, family support, and education for anyone wanting to learn more about the onset of a psychotic disorder. 
  • Clients of the EPI program who are First Nation, Métis, or Inuit have access to an Aboriginal Worker on the team.

Eligibility:   young people between 14 -35 who reside in the Barrie, Orillia, Midland/Penetanguishene, and Collingwood areas.  Family support is offered to any family member of a young person with psychosis.  Anyone can make a referral including a self referral.  To make a referral or learn more about the program call 705-725-5491.

 Case Management:

  • This is a program for youth are diagnosed with or experiencing symptoms of serious mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression or anxiety. 
  • Assistance is provided with such things as finding and maintaining housing, daily living skills, exploration of income supports, attending psychiatric appointments, developing coping skills and knowledge about illness, advocacy and making connections with other community resources.

Services include individual support, groups, and outreach in schools in Barrie (Brief Service)

Eligibility:  Youth between 16 -24 who live in Barrie.  Anyone can call to inquire; appointments are booked directly with the youth.  To make a referral or learn more about the program call 705-725-5491.

Addiction Counselling:

  • Counselling is available for youth who are misusing substances. 
  • Counselling is offered with a Harm Reduction approach; meaning respecting choices and promoting safer use and options that help minimize the risks from drug use.
  • Support is also offered to those who are impacted by someone else’s use. 
  • Common support offered includes: moderation, abstinence, alternative coping, exploring support networks, discussing family dynamics and peer interactions, self-exploration, advocacy and connection to community supports and resources.
  • Services include individual support, groups, and outreach in schools in Barrie (Brief Service) 

Eligibility:  Youth between the ages of 12 -24 who reside in Simcoe County.  Anyone can call to inquire; appointments are booked directly with the youth.  To make a referral or lean more about the program call 705-725-5491 (Barrie) or 705-325-4499 (North Simcoe)

 Midland Youth Project:

  • The program offers a safe place for youth to talk about mental health and substance use issues
  • Outreach is provided in the high schools in Midland and Penetanguishene.  This includes individual counselling with students, classroom presentations, and education for parents
  • Service is provided both individually and in a group format
